Sunday Song & a Photo
A Prince Cover & Jim Marshall
Welcome to the Sunday Song & Photo
Approximately 4 minutes of zen to start your Sunday morning. Grab a cup of coffee, kick back in your favorite chair and enjoy one song and one photo.
Rose Cousin’s ‘I Would Die 4 U’
I’m a big Prince fan, especially this song. Rose’s cover sheds new light on the track. Stripped down. Just about the words. A beautifully played piano part and background vocals. Nothing else needed. Enjoy.
Photo by Jim Marshall (1976, Oakland)
When photographers think of Jim Marshall, most of us probably think of the famous Johnny Cash middle-finger image from sound check at San Quentin Prison 1969. I dig that image too but, this photo of Peter Frampton from Oakland in 1976 is my favorite frame from his huge catalogue of work. Look at that crowd. If you want to learn more about Jim, there is a great documentary about his life and work from 2019 called “Show Me The Picture” - here’s the trailer.
